ABOUT THE BROADCAST

The Basics.
The live broadcast involves multiple cameras, pre-recorded sound and still images as well as the printed performance text.

The camera image and pre-recorded still images are delivered via a Webcam image, updated every 20 sec.

The Idea
The themes of public and private and their relationships have been an ongoing process within the medium of the Internet. The ability for anyone to publish text, image, video and sound to a global audience has been one of the hallmarks of the Internet/World Wide Web revolution.

The numerous "webcam" sites, most famously Jennicam (www.Jennicam.org), have taken the "private" spaces of homes and published them, live, to a global audience. Anyone can enter the hundreds of homes around the world and spy/peer into another's world. A surveillance conspiracy between the surveyed and the surveyor. By presenting a work of theatre, in the context of a home - an individuals life - onto the Internet, we join with this "webcam" conspiracy the ancient traditions of the theatre actor/audience surveillance.

The Sound
The added dimension of varying ambient sounds to each 'webcam" room we enter takes the viewer deeper within the space, further than the silence of the common surveillance camera image.

The downloadable sound files of pre-recorded text can be matched to the relevant room image thus offering an experience of context to the image.
